Claudia Lux

Claudia Lux is Director General of the Central and Regional Library Berlin (Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin, ZLB) since 1997.
Claudia Lux graduated in Social Sciences with a Diploma ( MS) and in Sinology with a Ph.D. at the University of Bochum. She studied at Universities in Berlin, Lawrence (Ks) USA and Beijing (China). In Library Science she obtained a higher University Degree from the University of Cologne in 1986.
Her professional career started in the East Asian Department of the State Library Prussian Cultural Heritage in Berlin and with research projects at the German Library Institute. She became Director of the Senate Library in Berlin in 1991. She has served on different library association‘s and library‘s boards, e.g. the Goethe Institute and the National Library of Germany. From 2004-2007 she was Chair of the German Library Association.
She is a member of the board of directors of CLIR – Council of Library and Information Research, (Washington DC). She is Honorary Professor at the Humboldt-University Berlin and the State University of Library Studies and Technologies in Sofia (Bulgaria ) and Guest Professor at Wuhan University (China).
She has published on different topics like Library systems in China and Germany, Teaching Library, Change Management, Digital Library, Outsourcing, and on advocacy - her IFLA Presidential theme : Libraries on the Agenda.
