Europeana: Access to culture for all?

Starting with a demo of Europeana, this talk will highlight public domain, copyright and IPR in relation to Europeana. It will cover the current and proposed initiatives to solve some of these needs and develop strategies. The role of Europeana as a flagship that stimulates access to information, culture and research will be discussed alongside what is needed to ensure its sustainability both politically, financially and editorially. Finally an overview of its expectations of the Commission and Member States and the role libraries have played to date and the one Europeana would like libraries to go on performing.
