Toby Bainton
EBLIDA Expert Group on Information Law/British Library
Toby Bainton has spent much of his career working in university libraries in London, Cambridge and Reading (England). He was Director of the university library in Reading from 1987 to 1995. Since then he has been the Secretary of the Society of College, National and University Libraries (SCONUL). The Society’s members are libraries in tertiary (higher) education, as well as national libraries, in the UK and Ireland.
SCONUL is an active member of EBLIDA, and Toby Bainton has served on EBLIDA’s expert group on information law since it was established in 1999, in recent years as its Chair. He was elected to the Executive Committee in 2005.
